Today’s study reminded me that we often get discouraged in the moments between the works of Christ. By this I mean that we can walk with him for many days or even years, and then when something does not APPEAR to work out, we can become discouraged. It is in these very moments when Jesus comes along, in a form we may not immediately recognize, and walks with us until we “GET IT” that HE IS RISEN, and HE WILL STAY WITH US if we ask him to.

If Christ had to “SUFFER THESE THINGS” before he could “ENTER HIS GLORY” them why are we surprised when we have to suffer along our own path to glory?

I do not glorify the suffering, but accept it as a necessary stepping stone to becoming glorified.

This thinking led me to a related passage.

    In John 17:1-5

Jesus prayed, “Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. 2For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. 3Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 4I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. 5And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.

As this prayer continues, in the passages that follow, Jesus asks God to give the disciples the same Glory, and then he refers to the future believers who would believe in Him because of the message He gave to his Disciples.

THAT’S US! Jesus gave us the SAME GLORY.

So what’s the catch? There are things we have to go through, to “SUFFER THESE THINGS” before we can enter the Glory that has been promised.

If we are on a personal road to Emmaus, meaning things have not turned out the way we thought they would, and we are discouraged, we just might want to start looking for Jesus to come alongside and “OPEN SCRIPTURE TO US as well as ‘STAY WITH US”.

Take heart, for just as this day gave the Disciples a story worth telling, We too will have a story worth telling!

    De Colores!
